Scion's can suffer double hits by shooting through the head to the sac.  Here's how it works:

Scenario A) The sac is unbroken:

Your shots will hit as follows:  ammo damage, headshot, ammo damage (affected by piercing damage reduction).

Scenario B)  The sac is broken:

Your shots will hit as follows:  ammo damage, headshot, ammo damage (affected by piercing), bodyshot (affected by piercing)

Here are the numbers from the test:

Scenario A) Sac unbroken:
452ms | Scion damage: 35.279297 // ammo damage no piercing
0ms | Scion damage: 594.759766 // wraith damage no piercing
0ms | Scion damage: 24.695313 // ammo damage piercing

Scenario B)  Sac broken:
906ms | Scion damage: 115.000000 // ammo damage no piercing
0ms | Scion damage: 1371.250000 // Saber damage no piercing
1ms | Scion damage: 115.000000 // ammo damage piercing
0ms | Scion damage: 853.750000 //Saber damage piercing

Much thanks to OnlyUseMeGI for his help

Cool.

Have you tested the Praetorian bubble yet or is that upcoming?

Good. I know there have been several questions about it and how it works versus powers, weapons, and debuffs.

Super cool. Any additional advantage I can get vs their shoot-through-cover cannons I'd happily take.

I thought everyone already knew this because it's what I've always done with my javelin. Similarly, you can probably do the same with the brutes shoulder plates through its body or head somehow.

Is it bi-directional?

Meaning, it has to be a shot from the side (roughly) where the head/sac (huh huh...sack) line up. Can it be sack, then head, head then sack, or either? OP said head through the sac, but I'm curious if the converse will work as well.

Thanks, good information.

Rush in and get them to try and melee you.  They are notoriously clumsy.  You can pretty much dance around them while they swing haymakers at you.

Do you know the range of how much penetration you need for this?

I can confirm this. Knew this pretty quick after collectors came out.

As GI you always search for ways to double/triple hit enemies.

I was thinking about the Atlas canopy damage bugs.  But it's a totally different scenario since the canopy doesn't "break" like the sack.

That being said, though, it be interesting to see if it does work both ways (no pun intended, I swear).  It wouldn't make sense logically since you break the sack first.  But, it could still exist due to a timing glitch (i.e. the software cannot resolve the damage to each section that quickly).

well, as long as the head represents a critical spot, i'm sure hitting it in any sequence is supposed to deal the intended damage.
but i am not an authority on software. the system not being quick enough to register both hits? you'll have to wait for the OP to clarify.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

But I'm curious, since it should only work one way.  If it works both ways, even better for us.

Working as intended™?

nothing wrong with the puns.

well, just because of the nature of software, i guess this is a legit question. otherwise, no.

Yes and no.  If you shot it from the sack side, you should be in scneario B (since you technically broke the sac first).

If you shot it from the head side, the sack. is unbroken when the head is hit, then broken when the round passes through the head and strikes the sack.  This would be scenario A.

Now, the legit question is the OP's model correct.  Or, more accurately, does the BioWare software fit the model.  Since it happens so quickly, depending on how the code is written, it might/might not matter.

Good question.  Unfortunately, this was not tested.  I would wager strongly that it would work backwards as well.  Likely scenario would be:

ammo damage
penetration ammo damage
penetration headshot
